Dear Editor, A few months ago (when I was not serious about losing weight) I booked a 5 day cruise. Do you have any suggestions for overeating? I am also going to a party this weekend, again how do I prevent binge eating when it comes to food? ~ ~ Emily Dear Emily, The best suggestion I can give you concerning overeating on your cruise is to just enjoy it. Your cruise is NO place to be on a diet and even if you try, the temptation to eat is just too overwhelming. So go, enjoy and get back on your diet when you get home. Of course, this is NO excuse for binge eating and not sticking to your diet before your cruise. The weight gain on the cruise can be easily loss because sudden weight gain is the easiest to lose. Concerning your party this weekend, the best strategy is to not go hungry. Make sure you eat a good meal before the party. Eating a small meal before the party will help tame your appetite and help with the temptation for overeating. The worst thing you can do is go to the party hungry, trying to stick to a diet. From experience, the harder you try not to eat at parties and special events, the more you will "give-in" to the temptation for binge eating. Morale of the
story, you always have to leave room in your diet plan for occasional
party and special events. But get back to your diet when you return and
don't let special events happen too often when you're trying to lose
weight.
