Dear Editor, I read that the Hollywood Diet is a like a miracle diet. You drink the Hollywood juice and lose lots of weight. Is there any truth to this? I would love to drink the juice and lose weight. Can you tell me if this is just another bogus diet or does the miracle diet really work? ~ ~ Ann Dear Ann, The Hollywood Diet is considered by most, a cleansing diet, but we like to think of it as another starvation diet. If you’re able to survive the Hollywood Diet for a week or more, you will lose weight. The only problem ….. most of the weight loss will be water and not fat. Most starvation diets act as a diuretic, causing you to lose water. Fat is much harder to burn and takes about 3,500 calories to burn 1 pound of fat. So you can see even by not eating, you will NOT lose much fat on the Hollywood Diet, just water that will all come back as soon as you quit the diet. If you insist on a cleansing
diet, then the Hollywood diet may be OK but we don’t suggest you use the
Hollywood 48 hour miracle diet to lose weight and keep it off. Any
weight loss you succeed in taking off will be short lived and of course,
like most people, you will re-gain all the weight once you quit the
diet.
