Meal Replacement - What's Best?

 

Dear Diet Tip,

I hate eating breakfast and just want a meal replacement in the morning. I also get low energy late in the afternoon. Do you suggest taking some type of meal replacement for breakfast and late afternoons?

Dear Cindy,

Meal replacement is a very good idea for breakfast and late afternoon. They provide a good source of energy and nutrients. Just about any sport's replacement shake will do like Met-Rx or EAS. Replacement shakes from these companies tend to be very nutritious because they're intended for bodybuilders. They come complete with protein and the proper amino chain.

You can also try Slim Fast and other shakes like it, but they are not as nutritionally balanced as the sport shakes that are specifically designed for bodybuilders.

You may also consider energy bars as a meal replacement but they don't give you the same satisfaction of feeling full that protein / sports shakes give you.  You might consider drinking a Met-Rx shake in the morning and eating a high protein energy bar in the late afternoon as a matter of convenience.
