Dear Diet Tip, Do you have any suggestions on how to boost metabolism? I don't eat that much yet I have a very difficult time losing weight. I think I may have a thyroid problem but I have not gone to the doctor to be diagnosed. What else could it be? Why is my metabolism so slow? Dear Reader,
A visit to your doctor is always wise but we get lots of email
like yours. The biggest mistake people make is not eating enough
food through the day and then eating too much later in the day
and for dinner. This is guaranteed to slow your metabolism.
To boost your metabolism, try eating small meals throughout the day. Eat every two to three hours but eat small meals that are less than 300 calories. Below is a sample menu you can eat through the day to boost your metabolism. Keep in mind that all the suggested meals are 300 calories are less. The idea is to eat healthy and eat often. This will keep your blood sugar stable and fuel your body through the day. By eating more often, your metabolism will increase to match the calorie demand. Foods you can eat through the day to increase metabolism are: 7 am ... Breakfast (bowl of whole grain cereal with fruit and coffee) 10 am .... turkey burger (no bread) with steam vegetables 12 pm ... sandwich with salad. 2 pm ... protein shake or energy bar 4 pm .... sliced cantaloupe or mix berries or low fat yogurt 6 pm ... sliced turkey or ham with grated lite cheese. 4 to 5 slices of deli turkey or ham 7 pm ... Dinner (lean meat with 2 veggies) -----------------------------------------------------------------------
