How to Avoid Over Eating During the Holiday

Office parties, family get-togethers, dinners with friends and other social gathering can reek havoc with your weight during the holiday season. If you feel like you're losing control during the holidays, here are 4 easy tips to help you through the holiday.

1.   Make a Plan -  Have a calendar available and mark off the days you will be attending a special event involving food. Try to limit yourself to no more than 4 events per 30 days. Just by seeing your parties and dinner engagements on a calendar, you can see at a glance how many tempting events you will have to manage. Plan on on writing those events off with respect to your diet and simply try to moderate what you eat.

2.   Limit Desserts and Alcohol to 2 Servings Each  -  Most calories are consumed in pastries and alcohol and not the party food. So limit your intake to a pre-determine amount such as 2 drinks and 2 desserts which allows you to enjoy the event without being deprived. Anything more, and you are probably over-consuming. Remember, your strategy at this point is just to NOT over-consume. Parties and social dinners are no time to stick to a strict diet plan.

3.   Drink Plenty of Water Before the Event  -  Water and low calorie drinks gives you a sense of feeling full so that you don't over eat.

4.   Never Go to Events on an Empty Stomach  -  Have a small meal or snack 1 hour before the event. You will feel satisfied and less tempted to over-indulge.

5.   Incorporate a Daily Exercise Routine  -  When yu have a daily exercise routine of at least 20 minutes of aerobics, the office parties and holiday dinners won'tmake much of an impact to your waistline. You'll also feel better about yourself knowing that you will be on the Elliptical machine at the gym for 30 minutes the next day.

6.   Use Low Calorie Snacks as the Bulk of Your Meals at Parties -  Try  salads, sugar free drinks, veggies and dip. Your stomach will fill up quick without all the extra calories.
