Reduce Calories - 10 Tips

Try these simple tips to reduce calories and lose weight. Forming good daily eating habits help you reduce calories and lose weight over the long term.

1.       Buy Lean Meats -  You don’t have to become a vegetarian to lose weight but selecting chicken and turkey instead of beef will cut lots of calories from your diet.

2.       Remove Skin from Chicken -  Simply removing the skin from chicken will cut 200 calories from 2 pieces of chicken and reduce fat.

3.       Use 1% fat Milk – This will cut lots of calories over a period of months. Reduce fat milk of 1% taste as good a regular milk once you get use to it.

4.       Trim Excess Fat from Meats – This should be a no brainer but you will be surprise how many people retain the extra fat when cooking their meats which adds hundreds  of extra calories.

5.       Use Half Milk and Half Water – for anything that requires milk, especially cereal.  If you normally use 1 cup of milk for cereal, instead use 4 ounces of milk and 4 ounces of water.

6.       Substitute Vegetables for Rice and Pasta – Rice and pasta add many unwanted calories to your meals. Instead substitute veggies for rice. This is really important when eating out at restaurants.  A teriyaki bowl with veggies instead of rice will cut 200 to 300 calories from your meal.

7.       Substitute Water for Soda or Fruit Juices – You will reduce lots of calories and save money at the same time by drinking water instead of soda. The average person spends more than $60 per month on sodas.  Diet Sodas are OK but water is much better and cheaper.

8.       Use Reduce Calorie Salad Dressing – There’s a big savings of calories and fat here. The typical salad dressing is more than 200 calories per serving while reduced calorie dressing is about 50 calories or less.

9.       Eat Open Face Sandwiches – Remove the extra bread and you cut calories from your sandwich or burger by more than 120 calories.  You also reduce simple carbs that come from white flour products which in turn will help you burn more fat.

10.   Buy the Reduce Calorie Version of Your Favorite Snack Foods – Many snack items have a reduced fat version which saves you lots of extra calories.
